I am so exited I just wanted to share my news that Ive been successful in  my application to create a new community mural with residents in Eastleigh. I so love working on this kind of project as it is all about getting people involved and and working with them to develop ideas that represent their community . Ill be sharing some of this with you as it all happens

Rag rugs and autumn term activities at WDC

One more adult workshop to complete this term ” creating rag rugs” on Saturday the 28th of July,  a great activity for those who love textiles and reusing materials.I love the freedom of creating work using fabric as a paint pallet, once you get to grips with the techniques it is such a relaxing craft.

And just to let you know about the workshops that I will be running at the WDC  in the autumn.

Starting with handcrafted fabric doorstop, followed by willow lanterns and quirky paper mache sculptures

I will also be offering more crochet classes and returning to lino block printing – creating cards.

Creating my first commisoned painting step 2

My first draft of the painting has lots of physical texture in it as well as visual

I decided that although it  needed more depth of color.

The second draft now has more color depth and detail as I have added flecks of green into the darker sections.  I really enjoyed the challenge of building up the different layers of color and depth which are revealed when it is viewed from  different angles  unfortunately this photograph does not show  here.

The final version now hanging on the clients wall
